Linkin Park这首歌曲的MTV文件4月2日落户到我的硬盘后，我立马就喜欢得要命，一直到现在还是如此。歌曲精彩，画面比歌曲更精彩，其中的大事记镜头拓展了听者的想象与理解视野，单从歌词理解貌似只是反思自我、告别过去的一首抒情歌曲，顿时变得更有深度，更有力度起来，What I've Done变成了What We've Done。(灵光一闪：本站至今没有正式的名字，所谓“微微巍巍娓娓威威薇薇硙硙嵬嵬”只是根据域名中的wewe敲上去临时充数，现在，嘿嘿，有了!)

中午看空中英语教室(强烈推荐学英语的朋友使用他们的教学节目)视频，Rachel老师说教大家一个写作技巧，就是为了避免单调，要善于用不同的词来表达基本相同的意思，没想到晚上重听What I've Done就发现了相当优秀的例子：farewell, wash away, cross out,erase, let go of, put rest of, clean this slate (wipe the slate clean), end,短短的一首歌，八个!真是熟读唐诗三百首，不会作诗也会吟啊。

关于clean this slate：slate最常见的意思是“板岩, 石片, 石板, 铺石板”，直译的话，“clean this slate”就是“擦干净这块石板”，颇为费解。在Answer.com找answer，The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition提供的两个义项提供了猜测的依据：1, A writing tablet made of a similar material. 2, A record of past performance or activity: start over with a clean slate.牛津英汉第四版对“写字用的石板”解释得更为详细 small sheet of slate in a wooden frame, formerly used by schoolchildren for writing on 石板（旧时学童书写用具），而最后发现的俗语wipe the slate clean：to agree to forget about mistakes or arguments that happened in the past则最终让答案浮出水面。
